NCLEX-RN practice, with Canada in mind

Study for the NCLEX without paying to start.

NursePath is a free, independent study space for nursing students. Practise every question format on the exam, work through unfolding case studies, and let spaced review bring back what you need. No account. No ads. Just you, steady practice, and a little encouragement along the way.

Works on your phone, tablet or laptop. Your progress stays on your device.

How it works

Open it, practise, come back tomorrow.

  1. 1

    Just start

No sign-up and no payment screen. Tell it your name and exam date if you like, and you are in.

  2. 2

    Practise with explanations

Every answer comes with the reasoning behind it. Cross out, highlight and flag, just like on exam day.

  3. 3

    Build a steady habit

A daily plan, a focus timer with real breaks, and spaced review that brings back what you missed. Rest days never break your streak.

What is inside

Everything for one job: getting ready to write.

Every question format

Multiple choice and select-all, plus the Next Gen formats: matrix, drop-down, bow-tie and ordered response.

Case studies that unfold

Six steps that follow the clinical judgment model, with a patient chart that grows as you go.

Spaced review

Questions you miss, or get right by guessing, come back soon. The ones you know well come back later.

Exam-day tools

Cross out answers, highlight the stem, use the on-screen calculator, and try a full exam rehearsal on a five-hour clock.

Focus timer and breaks

Study in focused rounds. When it is time to rest, it says so, with a one-minute breathing exercise if you want it.

Bring your own material

Paste questions, flash cards or notes from class into private study sets, and practise them alongside everything else.

A plan that bends

Pick your study days and minutes. It builds a short list each day and rebuilds when life gets in the way.

Progress that is honest

See what you have covered and where to look next. It describes your practice and never pretends to predict your result.

Private by design

No sign-up. Your answers, notes and sets live in your own browser, with a backup file you control. Going somewhere without signal? Take up to 100 questions with you for offline practice.

For the hard days

You do not have to feel ready to make progress today.

Studying for this exam can feel lonely, especially between shifts, clinicals and everything else life asks of you. Some days you will fly through questions. Some days ten will feel like a hundred. Both count.

NursePath is built to meet you where you are: a short session when that is all you have, a break when you need one, and a gentle nudge back tomorrow. Be as patient with yourself as you are with your patients.

Why a Canadian focus

The exam is the same. The path to it is not.

Canadian nursing regulators use the NCLEX-RN for entry to practice, but registration steps, timelines and rules differ by province or territory. NursePath flags Canadian context where it matters, and welcomes students from anywhere.

86.0%of first-time, Canada-educated test-takers passed the NCLEX-RN in 2025 (9,282 of 10,789).
39.6%of first-time, internationally educated test-takers passed in 2025 (2,893 of 7,312).

Source: NCSBN, 2025 NCLEX-RN examination pass rates. Figures describe groups of test-takers, not any one person, and you should check the current NCSBN statistics for the latest numbers.

The takeaway is not worry. It is that preparation matters, and that steady practice with good feedback is within reach of anyone who has the time to do it.

The exam in brief

What to expect on the day.

  • Adaptive length. The NCLEX-RN gives between 85 and 150 questions, within a five-hour limit.
  • Next Gen item types. Since 1 April 2023, case studies and extra formats such as bow-tie, matrix and drop-down appear alongside classic items.
  • Your regulator decides the details. Registration, scheduling and how results are released depend on the regulator you register with, so always follow their instructions.

Check nclex.com and your regulator for the current rules. NursePath is not the source of record.

Free, and kept going by the people it helps.

The core study tools are free to use and will stay free. If NursePath helps you, a small gift, now or after you pass, helps the next student. Never required.

Questions

Straight answers.

Is it really free?

Yes. Practice questions, case studies, flash cards, spaced review, your study plan and your progress are free to use with no account. There is nothing to buy and nothing to unlock.

Is NursePath connected to the NCSBN or the NCLEX?

No. NursePath is an independent study tool. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. NCLEX is their registered trademark.

Will practising here guarantee a pass?

No tool can, and we will not claim it. Practice scores here are feedback for your studying, not predictions of your exam result.

Where is my progress saved?

In your own browser, on your own device. There is no account. Use Download backup in Settings to keep a copy or move to another device.

Can I study offline?

Yes. Install NursePath on your phone or computer, then download a pack of up to 100 questions to take with you, by topic or mixed. Practise them anywhere, even with no signal. Your answers are saved on your device as usual, and you can swap in a fresh pack whenever you are back online.

How do I know the content is trustworthy?

Every item shows its sources, its licence, and whether a qualified educator has reviewed it. Anything not yet reviewed is clearly marked as a draft. Spot a mistake? Tell us and we will fix it.

Can I add my own questions and notes?

Yes. My study sets let you paste in questions, flash cards and notes from class or anywhere else, and practise them with the same review and progress tools. They stay private on your device and are never uploaded.

Can I change how it looks?

Yes. Pick a colour mood (Sage, Ocean, Lavender or high contrast), light or dark or dark in the evening, a larger text size, an easier-to-read font, relaxed line spacing, or no motion at all. It is built to meet WCAG AA contrast in every combination.

Can my nursing program use it?

Please do. It is free for classes and study groups. If you would like something specific, see the note for programs.
